Identifying and sharing emerging good practice that improves the lives of people living with dementia and those who care for them.

Dementia Impact is an independent research initiative founded by Harvey Zemmel.

Our mission is to discover, document and share practical ideas that make a real difference to people living with dementia and the families who care for them.

Every day, organisations develop innovative ways to improve lives. Too often, those ideas remain local, undocumented and unknown.

Our purpose is simple:

Find them. Learn from them. Share them.

Harvey has spent more than 30 years working in dementia care, owning and operating specialist care homes and supporting thousands of families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

He is also the founder of All About Alzheimer's, one of the UK's largest independent newsletters for family caregivers, reaching more than 23,000 readers across the UK and United States.

Through Dementia Impact, Harvey now interviews organisations, identifies emerging good practice and publishes practical research to help others learn from successful dementia initiatives.

Emerging Good Practice from Three Pioneering Football Clubs

The first Dementia Impact report explores how football clubs are supporting people living with dementia and their caregivers through community-based programmes.

Based on in-depth interviews, the report identifies five practical principles that other organisations may wish to adapt within their own communities.

Why Dementia Impact?

Much of today's dementia research focuses on medicine, diagnosis and treatments.

Those conversations are essential.

Dementia Impact complements that work by focusing on something different:

What organisations are doing today to improve the lives of people living with dementia—and what others can learn from them.

By interviewing organisations across different sectors and identifying patterns of emerging good practice, our aim is to build a growing body of practical knowledge that benefits communities around the world.
